On 11 March 2026, the Luxembourg Red Cross announced the merger between Doheem Versuergt asbl, its long-standing home care service, and Help asbl, a major national network providing home care. This development builds on more than 25 years of expertise in supporting people receiving care at home or in care facilities. It also represents a strong commitment to better anticipate and address the growing challenges facing the healthcare system, as well as those linked to an ageing population.
Now united under a single legal entity — Help, the Luxembourg Red Cross’s Support and Care Service — the teams continue to pursue their shared mission: to provide high-quality, integrated, innovative and accessible care for all.
A strategic merger to tackle the growing challenges facing the healthcare system
In recent years, changes to the legal framework and the increasing complexity of funding mechanisms have led to the gradual consolidation of support and care services under the Doheem Versuergt umbrella. This consolidation has led the Luxembourg Red Cross and the members of the Help network to conclude that a unified model was now necessary to strengthen the coordination and quality of services. In practical terms, nothing will change for clients, staff and external partners. The merger is primarily aimed at simplifying internal organisation, improving the consistency of processes and supporting the development of new services.
Extensive expertise serving thousands of people
With nearly 1,500 staff members, Help provides daily care and local support to thousands of people in Luxembourg: home care, psycho-geriatric support, supported housing, specialist services and more. Built on a modern, multidisciplinary and deeply human approach to care, Help’s work is underpinned by strong values: respect, independence, dignity and a relationship of trust.
“For over 25 years, our teams have been committed to providing our clients with personalised care that respects their independence. The merger between Doheem Versuergt and Help was a natural progression that will enable us to be even more effective, more transparent and better attuned to the needs of the people we support.
This major step strengthens our ability to meet the challenges of a healthcare system undergoing profound change, whilst reinforcing our goal: to be an innovative and supportive healthcare partner, dedicated to people. I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all our staff for their dedication and professionalism,” says Catherine Gapenne, Director of Help.
